-Pool Filters And MaintenanceYour filter is a vital part of keeping the pool clear and clean. There are 3 types of filters all require periodic maintenance: Sand, Diatomaceous Earth (DE), and Cartridge. Sand and DE filters both require routine backwashing every 3-4 weeks on sand filters and 6-8 weeks for D.E. Forgetting to backwash will damage your filter in many ways plus reduce the efficiency of the chemicals that are in your pool. Sand filters should have the sand changed every 3-5 years and should be done by a pool professional. DE filters should have a tear down for cleaning and inspection for torn grids a minimum of once a year and should be done by a pool professional. -Cleaner is not workingMost of the time your cleaner went over a toy or a rock. ![]() With the system off, pull your cleaner out of the water and look in the hole at the bottom to see if there is an obstruction.
