-Monsoons Season Pool Maintenance

Make sure that your system runs before and during the storm. Waiting tell your pool is  covered in debris can be overwhelming for your cleaning system. Also make sure to clean skimmer and pump baskets frequently, over-filled baskets will cause the your pool system to operate ineffectively.

-Water level To Low Or High

Make sure the water level is between the middle of the opening for your skimmer.  If your water level gets too low, the pump will suck air causing damage to your equipment. If your pool level gets too high, the pool surface will not stay as clean because the water level is above the skimmer.

-Lowering Water From Your Pool

If you have a sand or D.E filter you can simply backwash the pool to the desired level. Cartridge filters will need to be drained from the hose bib connected to your pool equipment, simply attach garden hose, open the valve and turn the system on until desired water level has been reached.

-How many hours a day should you run your system

You must run your system once a day in order to properly circulate and filter all the water in a 24 hr period. In the summer mon ths, we suggest running your pool 8-10 hours depending on the size and/or the equipment being u sed. In the winter months, we recommend the pool run 6-8 hours.

 

-Draining Your Pool

Desert Sun Pool Care suggests you drain your pool every 2-4 years or when your calcium hardness level goes above 700ppm.  Draining your pool is preventive maintenance that can help prevent surface staining as well as maintaining the water chemistry. We do not recommend draining your PLASTER pool in the summer months as you run the risk of damaging the plaster, so plan on pool draining in the cooler mont

-Pool Filters And Maintenance

Your filter is a vital part of keeping the pool clear and clean. There are 3 types of filters all require periodic maintenance: Sand, Diatomaceous Earth (DE), and Cartridge. Sand and DE filters both require routine backwashing every 3-4 weeks on sand filters and 6-8 weeks for D.E. Forgetting to backwash will damage your filter in many ways plus reduce the efficiency of the chemicals that are in your pool.

Sand filters should have the sand changed every 3-5 years and should be done by a pool professional. DE filters should have a tear down for  cleaning and inspection for torn grids a minimum of once a year and should be done by a pool professional.

Cartridge filters must be taken apart and cleaned every 6-8 months depending on the size of your pool and other factors of your pool.

-Cleaner is not working

Most of the time your cleaner went over a toy or a rock.

With the system off, pull your cleaner out of the water and look in the hole at the bottom to see if there is an obstruction. If you still have a problem please give us a call

-Try And Keep "Snickers" Out Of The Pool

Animal coats contain dirt and oils that can have a crucial effect on the water chemistry of your pool. You can compare it to 10 people in you pool. Their coats also shed heavily while in the water which can clog up baskets and filters.


-Keep a groomed backyard

Maintain your backyard by cutting tree's and bushes that surround the pool. Clean up toys in and around the pool. These tips will help your backyard look good aand save you money on unnecessary repairs.
